What to wear with a knitted dress in winter. What to wear with a knitted dress: mini, midi, oversized and turtleneck. What to wear with a short turtleneck dress

One of the most comfortable models for winter is a knitted dress. In the winter of 2017-2018, it is especially relevant, so if you don’t already have this model in your wardrobe, pay attention to it, and we will tell you what to wear with fashionable women’s knitted dresses.

A warm knitted dress is a hit this winter

Winter is not a reason to deny yourself the pleasure of wearing beautiful dresses. Of course, you should not choose models made of thin fabric - it will be uncomfortable in cold weather. But a stylish warm knitted dress will be an excellent choice if you want to look feminine even in winter. Fashionable women's winter knitted dresses have the following advantages:

  • convenience and comfort,
  • femininity,
  • ease of creating an image,
  • the opportunity to diversify your image,

and so on. The basic rule is that you need to choose a winter knitted dress of a suitable length and with a good yarn composition, which should contain wool or angora. It is better to choose a percentage of wool thread content of at least 30% - then the knitted dress will be warm. It is also worth noting that such a clothing model cannot do without artificial thread, such as acrylic - this helps the knitted fabric retain its original appearance longer and not stretch.

Models of knitted dresses

Nowadays there is quite a wide selection of knitted dresses, with different styles, knitting textures and yarn compositions. As for fashion, knitted dresses 2017-2018 mostly have a straight cut and length to the knee or slightly below. Midi (mid-calf) or maxi length, although it looks beautiful, is impractical in winter weather. Therefore, the most optimal length is exactly to the knee, plus or minus a few centimeters.

What to wear with a knitted dress?

Women's winter knitted dresses go perfectly with almost all winter wardrobe items. The combination looks stylish with boots made of leather or suede, as well as ankle boots just above the ankle. A warm knitted dress does not require choosing a combination with any cardigan or sweater; it itself is already the basis of the image. If you purchased a knitted dress, it is also convenient because you do not need to select any combinations with other clothes in your wardrobe.

As outerwear with a women's winter knitted dress 2017-2018, you can combine:

  • fur coat,
  • sheepskin coat,
  • down jacket,
  • coat,

that is, almost all types of winter outerwear. If you are wondering what to wear with a long knitted dress in winter, then choose a short fur coat or a short down jacket. Although this combination is not suitable for long winter walks - we have already mentioned that a long winter knitted dress is not very practical. Of course, you can combine it with a long down jacket or fur coat, but it won’t be very comfortable when moving.

The combination with short outerwear looks more stylish, but is not designed for long stays in the cold. This is a good option if you need to quickly get to the car and get indoors just as quickly - for example, if you are going to work or on a visit. In other cases, it is better to choose knee-length winter knitted dresses and combine them with outerwear of the same length.

Fashionable knitted dresses - selecting accessories

To the question of what tights to wear with a knitted dress, you can answer this way - choose thick dark tights from 100 DEN. They are warm enough for winter, and look very stylish when combined with a knitted dress. For example, you can wear a dark blue, light gray or black knitted dress with black tight tights. Blue color also goes well with gray claws, as well as red, green, emerald, etc. Thick brown tights will complement the look with a knitted women's dress in warm shades - burgundy, red, pink, ocher or beige.

Also, various accessories go well with a knitted dress - for example, a large pendant, brooch, wide bracelet or belt can add zest to your look. The basic rule is to choose one, or maximum two, jewelry, then your image will not look “overloaded.” Also, such a wardrobe model can do without any decorations at all, especially if the fabric is made with patterned knitting, large braids, diamonds, etc., which create a decorative pattern.

Knitted dress color

One of the most popular shades is black. This is one of the basic wardrobe colors that fits and matches with almost any other color. In addition, a black knitted dress can be combined with almost any outerwear item; it is a universal option. But if you don’t like black, then you can choose another actual color, for example:

  • grey
  • blue
  • green
  • burgundy
  • white
  • light beige
  • pink

A warm knitted dress is an excellent choice for winter. It is ideal for creating a casual style outfit, while being comfortable to wear and quite feminine.

It would seem that this is an ideal option: both warmth and the figure are not hidden under multi-layered dresses... But, firstly, such a dress visually adds several kilograms. Secondly, it does not emphasize the curves of the body, but gathers into massive folds-rollers, and the same caterpillar is obtained.

Mistake 2. Dress in a tight fit

Such an outfit, even for slender young ladies, can outline the tummy and riding breeches. In addition, the thin elastic fabric exposes the seams of underwear (!) and tights - which is a shame.

How to avoid mistakes? Super-tight styles are for girls with a model appearance, and the majority are more suited to an A-line or empire style. But if a tight dress is your dream, choose good shapewear and make sure it doesn't show!

Knitted dresses of a semi-fitted style will perfectly hide figure flaws. These styles are perfect for a smart casual look.

Mistake 3. Dress with a high neck

In autumn-winter collections, a long dress with a high collar is often found. At first glance, it’s comfortable and practical: you don’t need a scarf, your neck is warm... But optically, such a dress makes the figure rectangular, shortens the neck and generally looks baggy.

How to avoid mistakes? Stylists recommend maintaining a balance of open and closed areas of the body. The ideal length for a high-neck dress is knee or mid-thigh length. And if you want to buy a long dress, then let it be with a moderate neckline.

You will find spectacular knee-length dresses in the boutique. We chose models with a round neckline, decorated with rhinestones or contrasting leather pockets.

Mistake 4. Dress is too short

Sweater dress or ? It may be impossible to determine exactly. And some girls take advantage of this by wearing a long sweater instead of a short dress. However, from the outside it may seem that they forgot to put on a skirt or jeans. The same thing happens to tall girls who wear a sweater dress that doesn’t fit.

How to avoid mistakes? For others to understand you correctly, a sweater dress should reach at least mid-thigh. In this case, you can safely wear it with tights. If the length is higher, this item of clothing is best worn with a skirt, jeans or leggings.

For cold autumn and winter, choose a warm, above-the-knee sweater dress from the boutique. We love these basic gray styles - paired with over-the-knee boots, they make the perfect outfit for a date night or shopping trip.

Mistake 5. Several decorative elements at once

A knitted dress is often complemented with transverse Scandinavian patterns, braided braids, patch pockets, ruffles and flounces. But if there are too many additional elements, the dress almost invariably makes the look look fat and cheap. But I want to

A knitted dress is an indispensable wardrobe item for autumn and winter, and one made from thin threads is also suitable for spring and summer. The long version of this outfit looks very advantageous, perfectly emphasizes the figure, and is able to hide physique flaws. We’ll find out what to wear with a long knitted dress from the article: we’ll find out how to complement this piece of clothing to look modern, stylish and elegant.

How to choose a dress according to your figure

A long knitted dress is a stylish and modern thing, but it is also dangerous - an incorrectly chosen outfit can highlight all the folds and bulges on the body, which, on the contrary, would be better to hide. Next, we’ll look at how to choose a dress of a similar stylistic design to suit different types of female figures.

If you have a tummy

One way or another, almost every woman has a small tummy, excluding thin ladies and those who work out hard in the gym. To hide this drawback, you should not choose long knitted dresses with a tight-fitting silhouette: such a style will only emphasize the stomach, as well as other not-so-flattering parts of the body. But you can see what the style of a long concert dress with sleeves looks like

Dress option for ladies with a belly

In this case, the best solution would be to choose a trapezoidal style or one where the extension of the bottom of the dress begins immediately from the chest. Such a style can hide extra pounds, and at the same time emphasize the breasts - the most prominent and attractive part of the body in this case.

In this case, you should not choose outfits with large textured knitting - they can visually add several extra pounds. Stick to non-knitted fabrics of medium weight and thickness that hold their shape well.

If your legs are short

If the lower part is disproportionate, you should choose long knitted dresses especially carefully: there is a high risk of visually shortening the silhouette even more.

In this case, options with a vertical pattern are suitable, and heels must also be present.

If you have an hourglass figure

The lucky owners of such a physique are lucky - all the bulges in this case are exactly where they need to be, and in the necessary areas the figure is naturally narrowed. If you have a perfectly proportional body type, you can choose whatever dress you want, but often an hourglass figure is accompanied by overly massive hips.

Beautiful dress for ladies with curvy figures

In the latter case, it is recommended to opt for a long dress in the “empire” style, when the expansion of the hem begins directly under the chest. This style will successfully hide the massive lower part. For tall

In this case, a knitted sweater dress will look great. This model is distinguished by its enviable versatility: you can wear a sweater dress with both high- and low-heeled shoes, to work and to go out.

What accessories to choose

Let's consider how to complement a maxi-length knitted dress to give the outfit chic and relevance.

Decorations

A knitted dress looks great with a variety of decorations and jewelry, including vintage ones. Smooth knit dresses are best suited for “decoration”; textured options are quite elegant and eye-catching in themselves. Chains with elegant pendants, thin bracelets, brooches - any jewelry will look harmonious if you choose it with taste.

Beautiful decorations for dresses

Don’t be too zealous with the choice of jewelry: a dress made of knitted fabric is quite elegant in itself, so you don’t need to decorate it too much. One or two decorations are better than “all the best at once.”

If you want to wear natural stones, you should not give preference to jewelry: semi-precious and ornamental stones will look best with the soft charm of a knitted dress. Pearls look advantageous in this case.

Boho-style jewelry looks great in combination with knitted openwork dresses: this option is more suitable for a relaxed holiday. Textured large jewelry looks great with smooth knit dresses: bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings. Don't forget about such an attractive, but rarely used decoration as brooches - modern products of this type can be very stylish.

But this will help you understand what a long plaid shirt dress looks like and what you can wear it with

Belts

A thin strap made of smooth leather, perhaps in a contrasting shade, will help emphasize your thin waist.

For the evening, choose a belt with a large, eye-catching buckle, but for everyday work, a modest, smooth, plain version is more suitable.

You should not use knitted belts with knitted dresses - such an accessory will make the outfit look old-fashioned.

But you can see what a long chiffon dress looks like for plus size people and what accessories should be used

Collars

Overhead collars of various models and styles can also serve well. But it is recommended to use such accessories only if the outfit is finely knitted and monochromatic.

Bags

Elegant clutches will look great with a maxi-length knitted dress - pay special attention to these small handbags. In this case, you should not choose bags made of straw, wicker, or openwork - it is better to prefer severity and some rigidity as a contrast to the softness of the dress.

The handbag can be knitted like the dress

For walking around the city, you can choose a comfortable backpack bag. This option is modern and comfortable, perfect for young girls. Well, the classic version of the bag will always come in handy - you can combine this accessory with a knitted dress in any style.

Watch

You can complement a knitted dress with a massive wristwatch in a masculine style - the contrast of a feminine outfit and a brutal masculine accessory will look very trendy.

Scarves, stoles

The combination of a plain knitted dress with a bright scarf or shawl can look very harmonious. Don’t neglect this option: a properly selected scarf will help brighten your complexion and brighten up your workdays.

Beautiful scarves for a knitted dress

If we are talking about winter or autumn, do not forget about gloves - with the help of this accessory you can also play up a knitted outfit in an interesting way.

Shoes

Let's find out what shoes can be combined with long knitted dresses.

Platform shoes

These shoes, which were fashionable in the 60s and 70s, are now coming back into use again according to the laws of cyclicality. These shoes look great with coarse knit maxi-length dresses: the outfit takes on chic, style and a modern feel.

Beautiful shoes for a knitted dress

Boots

You can wear maxi-length knitted dresses with boots all fall, winter and almost all spring. Therefore, it is worth stocking up on several options for these irreplaceable shoes:

Having these four options for boots in your shoe wardrobe, you can create the maximum number of different combinations with a knitted long dress: both for going out and for work.

Ankle boots or black boots

Elegant high-heeled boots will be the perfect complement to a knitted dress of maximum length. Ankle boots are good for going out, they can elongate your figure vertically, add height and grace.

Ankle boots go well with a white knit dress

Classic shoes

This is an indispensable solution for literally all occasions. Classic shoes can have medium or high heels, as well as low ones - in any case, they are an elegant option for both work and going out. Note that the shoe material in this case can be either leather or suede - both options will look great with a long knitted dress.

Black shoes go well with a black dress

As for the color of classic shoes, in this case you should start from the color of the dress. But in any case, you will not lose if you buy shoes in universal colors: black, dark blue, beige.

Sport shoes

White sneakers are suitable for a dark dress

Low heels

All kinds of oxfords, moccasins and other types of boots and shoes, including those in men's business style, can make an excellent pair with a knitted long dress. This option is more suitable for tall girls, as it visually shortens it a little. Shoe models with laces will harmonize with dresses of deliberately rough knitting.

Pay attention also to the massive boots - with a knitted outfit, brutal shoes look, oddly enough, quite logical and harmonious. Plus it's very modern. But what you can wear with a blue long dress, and what accessories are the most suitable, you can see

Items of clothing

A knitted dress can be combined with various wardrobe items: jackets, vests, cardigans, fur coats - below we will look at the most popular combination options today.

Cardigans

For autumn, a knitted dress and a cardigan will make a wonderful, cozy pair.

Coat

To make a maxi dress look harmonious with a coat, choose outerwear that is also long cut.

A beautiful knitted coat will perfectly highlight the look

What to wear with a fur coat

If the knitted dress is very long, literally up to the toes, it can look harmonious with short items of clothing - for example, with a short faux fur coat. This option will add ease, light chic, and modernity to the image. But what you can wear with it, you can see in the article at the link.

The fur coat can be made from natural fur or not.

Note that a faux fur coat can also be bright and printed: in combination with a plain, simple outfit it will look advantageous.

Trench coats

Great option for autumn walks

Knitted jackets as outerwear

This business-inspired piece will look chic with a feminine knitted maxi dress. If your figure is far from ideal, you can throw a bright jacket over a knitted outfit, which will distract attention from your bulging tummy and hips.

A good option for autumn or spring walks

Shirt

A loose-fitting checkered shirt tied at the waist with a knot will look modern and casual with a maxi-length knitted dress. This is a convenient option for relaxing, walking around the city, and shopping. You should also pay attention to how a long summer dress with a floral print looks.

So, we learned how to select accessories for a maxi-length knitted dress. As you can see, this version of the outfit is versatile: a knitted dress is appropriate for work, for a walk, and even on a date. By choosing different options for shoes and accessories, you can play up a knitted outfit in a new way every time, giving it a current and appropriate sound.

Nowadays you can buy absolutely any thing in markets and stores. But at all times, things created with one’s own hands were highly valued. First of all, the soul of the master is put into such products. They attract with their beauty and originality. And in fact, such a thing is made in a single copy, which means it is exclusive.

Having learned to master knitting and crocheting well, you can give knitted items as gifts to loved ones. For example, you can knit mittens for children, which can eventually be decorated with beaded flowers. It is always a pleasure for older women to receive a beautiful shawl or blanket as a gift. Very often, needlewomen knit things for babies, preparing for the birth of a new life. These include booties, pants, blouses, and hats with scarves.

Experienced knitters create clothes for pets. You can crochet or knit not only this, but also toys for cats and dogs, and also create houses for them.

Dress and figure

Knitted items appear quite often on the catwalks. This is due to the fact that they never go out of style. If you really want to have an exclusive, beautiful and comfortable thing, but you don’t know how to knit, then you can order a knitted dress from a master. What to wear it with? We'll talk about this later.

Designers never lose sight of knitted dress models. They constantly present the latest interesting models.

But no matter how much a woman wants to look attractive, she needs to keep in mind some rules for choosing a dress for a particular figure:

  • If you have a small tummy, you don't need to wear it to the knee. Trapezoidal styles are suitable. In this model, the bulging belly will not be visible. If it is a short dress, then the legs will visually lengthen, if it is long, the height will be lengthened, due to which the silhouette will look more elegant. For women “in body”, experts advise focusing on such models. It is important to purchase such a dress strictly in size.
  • If you have (pronounced waist, wide hips), then the empire style is ideal. This style will highlight the curves of the waist and hide the fullness of the hips.
  • Those with an hourglass figure (narrow waist, chest and hips the same width) will suit different styles of dresses. These can be tight-fitting, loose outfits, short, long models and with any sleeve size.

Knitted dress and other things. Creating good combinations

What is the best way to combine a knitted dress? What should you wear with it? In principle, models of such clothing are quite self-sufficient. You can diversify the dress only with some original brooch, leather straps, unobtrusive colors of pendants and bracelets, or suitable shoes.

A long knitted dress is ideal for women with a thin build. For such clothes you need to carefully choose good stylish shoes. Platform and heeled shoes, tight-fitting high-heeled boots and ankle boots are perfect for a floor-length knitted outfit.

What to wear with a long knitted dress in the winter season? This topic is also worth talking about. After all, in the cold season you need to dress warmly and look stylish. So what is better to wear with a knitted dress? Of course, a cardigan or long coat will do. If the dress is very long, then you can experiment with a short fur coat made of warm fur. An important accessory in this combination is a scarf, which will match all the items in the set. This particular item of clothing can be in bright colors.

Of course, in the winter season you can’t do without tights and leggings. You can choose from patterns and colors. Just remember that everything should be in moderation.

Beige knitted dress. What to wear with it?

An excellent combination of beige and chocolate shades. A medium-width brown belt goes well with this outfit. What shoes to wear with a knitted dress? Shoes or boots of chocolate shades in combination with a collar which can be knitted from the same material as the main outfit. Light gloves as an accessory.

They should be brown. Also suitable for this dress are shoes, a jacket and accessories in classic black.

White dress

What to wear with a white knitted dress? The universal tone of the outfit allows you to choose clothes and shoes of almost any color. But basically, a white dress is not suitable for everyday wear. Rather, these clothes are chosen for a specific occasion - a trip to the theater, a restaurant or some kind of celebration. It is not advisable to combine a white knitted maxi dress with black shoes and accessories. These should be nude shoes or the shade you choose to complement the look.

Gray knitted dress. What to wear with the outfit?

Long colors will ideally complement various jewelry - pendants, bracelets, brooches.

This recommendation applies specifically to a single-color outfit. If the dress has other colors, embroidery and patterns, then you should be more careful in choosing accessories. High-heeled boots are optional for a gray outfit. It may not be too high a platform, leather, suede or a combination. A short coat in gray, black or blue shades will fit perfectly on top of the dress.

Black dress. What clothes to combine it with?

The classic color traditionally reserves the right to be combined with any other shades. But still, if you are not wearing it for a funeral ceremony, then the black dress needs to be enlivened. It is enough to choose a narrow white belt, earrings and a pendant with pearls or its imitation.

As a contrast, do not wear a white jacket or coat on top. Outerwear should be pastel colors.

Blue dress

When should you wear a blue knitted dress? What should girls wear it with? Let's look at some good combinations. The combination of blue and gray, and blue and black are strict options. For a walk, you can wear a pink cropped coat or a white jacket on top of a long knitted blue dress. Blue shoes with a dress of the same color are not a suitable option. This combination looks tasteless. Black shoes will go well with a blue dress if there is something else of the same color in the look, or beige shoes will be ideal.

Choosing a dress

Winter dresses are undoubtedly best purchased from soft natural wool. This fabric is comfortable, not heavy, practical, warm and fits well. When choosing a style, take into account the features of your figure. Dresses made from knitted and knitted fabrics are well suited for both formal events and work. This winter you should give preference to gray, beige and black colors. Knitted models in ethnic style are considered elite.

Embroidery and additional decor on such dresses give the products a luxurious and impressive look.

There are long knitted dresses in folk style. This is a long and labor-intensive manual work of masters, and accordingly, the price of such dresses is much higher.

A little conclusion

Now you know what a knitted dress is. We also described what to wear it with in the article. Dress fashionably, beautifully, stylishly and comfortably. Be irresistible!

Ohhhhh! How I miss all life-like, anti-glamorous and useful reading:) Therefore, today’s post will be long and sincere. Like good old times. And not only because of my return from the whirlpool of Belarus Fashion Week.

Today we will be talking about knitwear in real life. And in my system of coordinates it occupies the same place of honor as boyfriends and uggs. So everything written is 90 percent acquired from my own experience, plus a drop of theoretical knowledge. Overall, it's digestible.

In general, I plan to write more than one post here about knitwear, because the topic is very broad. But I want to start with what, in my opinion, is the most interesting and relevant thing right now - a knitted dress. And more specifically - with knitted knitted dress. This is the wardrobe item that gains hellish popularity every fall/winter and which, however, never ceases to be a huge hemorrhoid in the closet. To begin with, as always, I’ll tease the catwalk luxury:

Photos from the shows of Proneza Schouler, Suno and Les Copains - all fall-winter 2016/17 collections

But in my Belarusian reality, most often I see completely different rays. As a result, the picture of the knitted world of warm dresses looks something like this:

I took all these photos from the catalog of the Wildberries online store in the section with knitted dresses

It's easy to screw up, I understand. So let's figure out what exactly is wrong here and how you can fix it so that your own everyday look turns out more like the first selection than this one.

The first thing I want to refute is It's not always about the dress. Because, by and large, knitwear is a rather spineless material. And if you look at most knitted dresses regardless of the outfit, then you won’t be able to tell which ones cost 30 and which ones cost 300 bucks.

In the photo there are dresses of approximately the same mixed (cotton + synthetic) composition: H&M for 35 euros, for 550 euros, for 40 euros and for 600 euros

Moreover, the experience of numerous financial experiments gave me the opportunity to assert: knitwear is not at all the kind of thing that should cost as much as a Boeing wing. Why the hell? Even cooler: with the help of knitwear you can save money if you don’t have a budget for clothes. This is because the success or failure of an outfit with a knitted dress depends 80 percent only on how it sits and what it is worn with. And only the remaining measly 20 percent comes from the features of the dress itself, which we will return to below.

So let's figure it out. The first failure that almost all manufacturers of inexpensive knitwear allow in their catalogs is this strange attempts to make knitwear look like a "decent" or sexy thing. Hence these fitting and inappropriate tight-fitting styles angled to match a sheath dress, pumps, business hairstyles and other attributes of clumsy femininity. This cocktail is also often polished with a mini dress length. In the end, it's complete bullshit.

Let's try to think logically. Knitted jersey is comfortable casual material. This casualness will stick out from him in almost any outfit. And all we achieve by trying to hide it is to emphasize it even more. As a result, the entire outfit will turn into pathetic squalor.

Therefore, the only right step is not to veil, but to competently support the casual component of knitwear. At the same time, we will not always get a loose casual look. There are many more final options - for the office or a first date, among others. Here are visual examples based on approximately the same knitwear:

Let's start with the difficult one - with knitted jersey in feminine outfits. We found out that a knitted dress is already a casual look that you can’t get rid of. Means You need to build anti-casual images from the opposite, i.e. in contrast. Sorry for the slightly exaggerated examples, but the point is important:

When I need to squeeze maximum femininity out of a knitted dress and really want to wear heels, I take an anti-sexy shift dress. And then I add femininity with jewelry, actual heels, open wrists or a hairstyle. Depending on your personal style, these can be different options from just a loose dress to a rough oversized dress:

To be sure, let's look at the designer's favorite features: pumps and stiletto boots are most often complemented by pointedly shapeless and rough knitted dresses. At maximum podium contrast.

And vice versa: the tightest knitted dresses are complemented with more brutal shoes, plus the length is necessarily filtered - usually it is below the knee. True, this option does not always fit into the generally accepted format of femininity and, more importantly, it is not for all figures.

There are also adequate options for a tight-fitting knitted dress in a feminine, sexy outfit. But they are sooooo hostile. Here are two knitted dresses in a silhouette style that look impeccable with stiletto heels, full makeup, feminine styling and other attributes of the standard image of a metropolitan chiculi. This is a straight plain (not melange!) noodle ribbed dress and smooth knitted fabric diverging from the waist or hips pleated or bell-bottom.

Remark. The Bottega Veneta dress in the center does not quite fit the theme of the post due to the material and execution, but it conveys the essence of the style well and at the same time amazes with its ungodly price of 2,500 euros

The problem is that these are at the same time the most unfriendly styles of knitted knitwear for non-model figures. But if nature is generous with your figure, then use your advantage wisely. Once again, pay attention to the lengths of the dresses: even in these conditions ideal outfits are still based on dresses below the knee. If we are talking about winter, then it’s chic when the hem covers the edge of the boot.

By the way, you can be tricky with flared knitwear. If you find a high-waisted model (like this one) it will flatter most figures. Moreover, in any style at all. True, I know that many people cannot stomach the Empire line - so it’s more a matter of taste.

Now let’s complicate the task: how to wear it then? knitted dress in the office? Everything, of course, depends on the dress code, but in any case, there’s not much difference in contrasts. So we will slightly change the social status of knitwear, without depriving it of its innate casualness. We need as smooth as possible knitted jersey such as wool or cashmere. The style is moderately loose, a little oversized or the aforementioned enemy ones. The length is again puritanical.

By the way, useful life hack from the central picture: if you don’t like outright oversize and empire-style, but the tight fit is beyond the checkout, then you can buy a relatively loose dress that is knee-length or slightly lower. And, if desired, model the silhouette on yourself using a metal or leather belt.

Why do you remember a leather or metal belt? I wrote recently, but I can repeat it: since casual knitwear itself does not have stylistic charisma, in non-casual outfits it needs to be brought to the desired theme. The coolest thing about knitwear is that it combines with leather, silk, chiffon and lace. This is where my passion for such combinations comes from.

And this, by the way, is another reason why I was so attached to the knee length. In this format, the knitwear is combined with the leather of the boots - and the result is exactly that ideal juxtaposition. The effect is like a sweater over a leather skirt or pants. This way, by the way, you can pull out even not very successful combinations.

Well, to finally instill in you a hatred of tight-fitting knitted dresses above the knee - here are a couple more typical office examples. And if the dresses here were 10-15 cm lower, everything would look much better.

I'm also very wary of pairing a knit dress with a knit cardigan. Not only in the office format, but in any format in general.

Such tandems are also straight out of the “one in a million” category. I mean, only a few dystrophic drug addicts can wear this beautifully. If in appearance, in sharpening or in the details around there is not that same stylistic charisma, then the #healthyretirement effect is guaranteed.

In terms of appearance, this is a complaint against Mother Nature, but we can go out in clothes. So I’ll write it boldly: knitwear really loves charismatic neighbors, which will stylistically guide the entire bow.

Sorry that the illustrations are again with a large degree of convention, but with winter pictures in the search engine it’s completely out

This, by the way, also applies to those cases when a knitted dress is needed to create the actual casual outfit. Brutalism in the form of motorcycle boots, a bag on a metal chain, steel jewelry, leather sneakers or soldier boots can make a look not just warm and comfortable, but also stylistically expressed. Or an elegant coat, a leather shopper and some Chelsea boots - if you need to take your casual wear in a more elegant direction.

Well, if possible, I wouldn’t disdain multi-layering either. Although I don’t think anyone will need to be persuaded here. Again, sorry for the not-quite-winter examples, but the meaning is clear. What I mean is that in this way you can put a knitted dress into any outfit.

Now let's return to the promised 20 percent of success and still finish the theme of the dress itself. My position is very simple: the ideal knitted dress should be as simple as a felt boot- both in style and in appearance. I prefer to create all the difficulties directly on myself. Hence, I have a pathological dislike for any complex prints on knitwear (checks and stripes are considered neutral prints, so this does not apply to them). I am especially cynical about filtering patterned and floral prints in budget stores. This is what it's like:

With your permission, I will not write about the need to adequately select the caliber of all kinds of braids and stripes on knitted fabric. If you have questions or cases, post them in the comments. We'll figure it out there. And finally, I’ll clarify one more stylistic point. About short knitwear. I'm not against short knitted dresses. And even short, tight ones.

But you must admit that these pictures are very different from the selection at the very beginning of the post - where short, tight knitted dresses are worn under pumps. So here it is. The thrash effect of this combination threatens everyone, regardless of their figure. Because this is not a question of figure, but again of styling.

Short free dresses go well with heels(in contrast), but short narrow require sneakers, UGG boots, fur hat with earflaps. In short, something away from the drama. Believe me, a beautiful knitted butt will be noticeable even without heels :) So, in short, ninada:

I'll probably end on this exciting note. There is still a lot of information and unspoken thoughts in my head - but let's leave something for discussion in the comments. Well, we’ll also save a little for future posts. That's it - now your ideas on the topic
