We sew a tool belt.MK

Do you have a handyman in your home? Does he need a simple belt tool?

Here's how I made mine:

Cut 2 pieces of fabric, one that is 13 x 11 cm, and another that is 10 x 11 inches. Fold each piece in half along the 13 and 10 inch sides.... so the pieces are still 11 cm wide. Iron apartment.

Then cut a piece of fabric that coordinates is 1.5 x 11 inches to create a piece of binding. Fold in half length wise and iron flat. Then fold the raw edges over once again and iron flat again.

Place this binding in the top fold of the short piece, making sure that one tie is in behind the piece and the other is in the front. Sew along the bottom edge.

Then cut another piece of your coordinating fabric that is 3 inches wide and 5 inches long. Fold in half with wrong sides facing each other. Then sew the edges together along the long side using a 1/2 inch seam allowance. Turn right side and iron the apartment.

Fold in half a loop and pin to the edge of that bound part, about half an inch below the binding. Make sure your cycle is inward.

Then sew in place to hold it in place while completing the tool belt.

Then open the larger pieces and line the smaller piece along the bottom edge of the larger piece. Divide this section into three parts and contact points to honor the division.

Make a straight seam from the base, up to the top of the binding. This will give you your three pockets.

Then fold the larger piece down on top of the smaller piece and line along the edge at the bottom and sides.

Sew along the edge with the hammer loop, the entire bottom, and then part on the other side. (Use 1/2 inch seam allowance). Make sure to stitch together that bottom corner on the second side to ensure a nice crisp corner after turning it on the right side.

Clip the two bottom corners.

And then turn the right side, the corners stick out, nice and clear.

Iron flat and then stitch all the way along the sides and bottom, quite close to the edge.

Then cut another piece of focal fabric that is 1.5 x 45 inches. (Keep in mind that you can put two pieces together to make a piece that is 45 inches long in case you use smaller pieces of scrap metal). Fold it the same way you made the binding at the top.....and then center it over the tool belt. Make sure the back fold of the tool belt and the front fold are on top.

Sew all the way across this top, making sure to close to the bottom once to attach it to the belt tool. And then go to the end of the binding part to ensure that the edges are folded together, which makes a connection to the ends of the binding.

Knot the ends of the ties...... and you're done.

So it's perfect For person to work.

**This can easily be used for tool belts for girls too. In fact, our little miss loves tools.........and pretending that she helps us fix all sorts of things around the house.

The problem of carrying and transporting hand tools, as well as small parts for plumbing, construction or installation work, has now been completely resolved. Tool belts and bags, as well as vests and trolley bags are available for the DIYer. My eyes widen at the sight of such a treasure. How to choose the right device?

When carrying out plumbing and construction work at heights or in cramped operating conditions, as well as in a limited work space, a tool belt is a reliable assistant.

Any home craftsman will appreciate this device: carrying out minor repairs or taking measurements at height becomes comfortable and safe. Get it necessary tool from the side pocket of a belt or bag you can deftly and quickly. At the same time, the hands of the working master are not tense at all and are busy with the main work. Why is a tool belt or bag attractive and how should you choose one?

Twist, Belt or Tool Bag

twist

The first sign of comfortable and ergonomic storage and transportation of tools was the roll-up organizer. The twist organizer is a durable canvas equipped with big amount Various sized pockets for transportation and storage. The size of the rolls of tool organizers ranges from 560 x 490 mm and allows you to place the required minimum set of tools.

Undoubtedly, the ease of use of twisting is justified when carrying out any work, including auto-mechanical work. However, twisting is inconvenient to use when working at heights, when the hands must be directly in the working position. Therefore, the appearance of tool belts and bags was greeted with enthusiasm by home craftsmen.

belts

Carrying tools on a special belt is justified in the case of work in which temporary descent and ascent is undesirable.

This could be electrical work or construction activities during which it is undesirable to interrupt. The common thing that bags and belts designed for electricians, installers or builders have in common is an improved design that evenly distributes the weight of the tool. Agree that 3-5 kg. tools in weight should be distributed evenly, eliminating and minimizing excess pressure on the spine and lumbar region of the worker.

The wide cut of the belt provides rigid support to the lower spine and back. The strict ideal cut of the design eliminates the unwanted possibility of injury to the back area.
The clever design of the belts is based on the use of heavy-duty materials such as tough nylon and genuine leather. The choice of such materials for the manufacture of belts and bags is justified by the properties of the material. Genuine Leather and industrial nylon have virtually no oil or moisture absorption. Therefore, the belt will remain dry even in the rain.

The material does not deform or wrinkle during use, thanks to the use of mesh fabric or elastic microfiber as a lining material. In most cases, tool belts and bags are adjustable in size and can be customized to suit your needs. Size adjustment is easy and securely fixed using special Velcro, latches and carabiners. Any fastening of slings and belts of a belt or bag is carried out using steel rivets.

For example, stayer belt for tools is successfully used when carrying out a variety of construction and installation works for comfortable carrying of tools, as well as consumables. The belt is made of durable nylon, equipped with durable voluminous pockets, reinforced with double stitching. The number of pockets on the belt can reach 10-12 pieces. These are two large pockets, two medium pockets and six small pockets for consumables. Quite a practical model of an electrician's tool belt!

Improved Plumbing Design kraftool belts for tools can be used to carry and store them. The shocking abundance of 18 pockets pleases with its capacity. It is noteworthy that the pockets and sections of the belts for tools are located symmetrically, which allows you to evenly distribute the load. Interior The belt straps are soft and comfortable, so it’s simply not possible to rub a “work callus.” As practice shows when using the device, the belt must be loaded evenly from the front and back. It is recommended to fold the tool in this way: those items and tools that are leading (pencil, tape measure, knife, screwdriver) must be placed in the right pockets. And items that are associated with installation or plumbing work (nails, screws, ruler) are placed on the left side of the belt.

In this way, it is possible to create a priority of items according to their functioning.
In addition, the belt is equipped with hammer holders. With a properly selected belt, the locking device can be adjusted with one movement, and the clasp operates without jamming.

bags

Tool bags are no less interesting than belts. Compared to belts, bags are more spacious; the total number of compartments can be 25. The average geometric dimensions of bags are 610 x 270 x 400 mm. Therefore, such bags are an ideal option for long-distance transportation of tools.

Most bag models are made of thick polyester. To strengthen and stiffen the structure, a double bottom is used. For ease of carrying, tool bags are equipped with shoulder straps covered with a rubberized pad. Padded straps allow you to load or unload the bag by hand.
The internal compartments of the bag have a significant number of pockets of various sizes. The design of bag pockets in places of intense daily use is reinforced with steel rivets.

Small pockets make it more convenient to store the fastening element. Long and narrow pockets are suitable for screwdrivers, as well as wrenches. All internal pockets are equipped with Velcro, which securely secures the edge of the pocket and ensures the integrity of the contents. Even on the road during transportation, small parts and fasteners do not fall out.

In addition, the bags are equipped with steel carabiners and straps with adjustable length. The compartments of the bag are separated using zippers. There can be any number of fasteners, so you can also attach the bag to the master’s belt. Built-in adjustable carabiners ensure the bag stays securely in place.

Trolley bags

Before you choose a tool belt and buy it, you need to think about its future purpose. Maybe even give preference to a trolley bag with a telescopic handle? Durable and mobile carts are equipped with shock-absorbing wheels. Therefore, trolley bags are designed to withstand significant loads when transporting home craftsman’s tools.

For people whose professions involve working abroad, it becomes actual problem storage and transportation of tools. And also the question of the most convenient use of them, if you have to work in a far from ideal conditions. For such professionals, a tool bag will be an indispensable tool. Although, of course, there are also boxes.

What kind of bags can there be?

Bags are not only lighter and more practical than boxes, but they also cost less. The tool bag may have different type. One of the formats is rectangular and equipped with handles and a shoulder strap.

There is another option for a tool bag. It has a belt clip and, of course, has a smaller capacity. This tool belt bag is indispensable for minor repairs at home, and is also popular with electricians, gardeners and hairdressers. Also, all container options have different shapes. They can be completely fabric or have plastic inserts. You can easily make a tool bag with your own hands. But first, it’s still worth understanding the various options.

Classic bag for storage and transportation

The distribution of space inside the bag plays a role important role when choosing a model. Usually the bag is closed at the top with a lock, which can have a different appearance. It could be a zipper, a buckle, a cord, or even a padlock.

Inside the bag is divided into several sections, different in size. Most often, such departments also have an individual clasp. Each pocket or part of them can be fastened. In addition, there are several pockets on the outside. Or there is another option when the bag consists of several departments that look like folders. These folders are fastened together with a zipper and can also have individual fasteners. This type of bag is suitable for storing a large number of small tools. While the first option is used for larger ones. In addition to sections and pockets, there may also be additional fasteners or elastic bands under which tools can also be placed. Many manufacturers even draw silhouettes of the tools that should be there under such fasteners.

Tool belt bag

This type of bag is very convenient not only for home repair work. After all, by attaching a tool belt to yourself, you will always have everything you need at hand. This can be a full-fledged belt with compartments of various sizes located around the waist. There is also a multi-compartment pocket attached to the waistband. Or a similar tool bag looks like an apron. The latter is quite popular in gardening.

Barber bag

Hairdressers belong to that group of workers who often have to go to clients' homes. Of course, they will need a container to transport the tool. But that is not all. Since hairdressers are forced to move around the client during their work, belt bags will also be very convenient for them.

Bags for hairdressing tools used for transportation should have good, roomy compartments and preferably with thick partitions. A bag that fits on a belt may not have many pockets. Just a few are enough - for scissors, combs and clips.

Mounting belt

Any master of small household repairs knows first-hand what a mounting belt is. A tool bag of this type looks like an apron, equipped with two large and several medium pockets.

In addition, these pockets have slots for small tools, as well as loops for a hammer. Such belts are very convenient because they allow you to keep with you a large number of various instruments. This container is often used as an electrician's tool bag. This is due to the ease of use of this option when working at heights. After all, with such an “assistant” you don’t have to constantly get off the stepladder to pick up a new tool.

Bag for manicurist

Manicurists do not need to use fanny packs, since they work at a table and all the tools are laid out in front of them. And it doesn’t matter where it happens: in the salon or at the client’s. But when going to a client’s home, they are forced to transport a large amount of materials and tools. In addition, the walls of the bag should be as tight as possible so that the materials being carried cannot turn over too much to prevent them from spilling or mixing.

Therefore bags for manicure tools have big sizes, a type of suitcase with several compartments that keep their shape perfectly, as well as many pockets. In such bags everything is always in its place. Such suitcases are fastened with a lock and have two types of handles: long and short. In addition to the usual sections, a manicure case usually has a plastic frame that is sliding. The tools that the master is currently using can be placed on it. After work, the sections of the bag simply slide together and the suitcase closes, which is very convenient.

Sewing a tool bag with your own hands

If you are not a professional in the clothing industry, then for self made It’s better to choose simpler models. For example, you can sew a bag for garden tools in the form of a belt or apron. First, determine the volume of your future bag. It will depend on how many tools, as well as what size you plan to put in there. It is also necessary to represent the location of all pockets as accurately as possible. It's better to even draw a sketch.

Material selection

A DIY tool bag can be made from various materials. And they play not the least role. Of course, the materials used to sew bags are not particularly diverse. As a rule, preference is given to one of two options. It can be nylon or leather. The first one is the most accessible and also universal. It is much cheaper than leather, which is why it is used much more often. But still, leather bags are much stronger and more resistant to use. Leather bags are also heavier than nylon bags and require special care, and this can be attributed to their disadvantages. Nylon is lightweight and washable, yet quite durable. Another advantage of it is the variety of color shades, unlike leather, which is presented in only a few solutions. But the disadvantages include its fragility. Such material can be easily damaged by tools from the inside. But if you are planning to sew for the first time, then you can practice, for example, on ordinary oilcloth, which has a fabric base. After all, for sewing leather bag Some experience and equipment will be required.

Tool bag pattern

Patterns for bags of this kind are usually not too complex. As a rule, these are several squares and rectangles connected into one whole.

But the sequence of their connection will depend on the chosen model, as well as on the purpose for which this bag will be used. Before you calculate everything and build a pattern, you need to decide not only on the model, but also on its size and number of departments. It would be a good idea to foresee in advance exactly which tools will be located in which departments.

Also consider the location and type of fastener, as well as handles and the placement of the pockets themselves. They can be located on one side or around the entire bag. Consider this moment especially carefully in a belt bag.

Sewing process

Having decided on the model and selected the material, you can start sewing. The constructed pattern should be placed on the wrong side of the fabric, pinned and cut out. If you use oilcloth, then seam allowances are not needed. The easiest way is to sew a bag in the form of an apron. One main piece is cut out, onto which square or semicircular pockets of different sizes are sewn. All cut parts should be finished along the edges, for example with hemming tape. A fabric belt should be sewn to the main part at the top. Oilcloth will not work for this because it cannot be tied around the waist.

Now that the main part of the bag is ready, you should place the pockets on it where you want them to be in the finished version and pin them in place. Inspect the work, and if everything suits you, then sew the pockets finally. This model can be slightly modified. Do wide belt made of oilcloth, which will not be tied, but fastened. Each pocket is sewn separately and in this case consists of two halves. After all the pockets are ready, they are sewn on top of the belt along its entire length. They can also be stacked on top of each other. This way you will increase the useful volume of the belt bag.

When starting to choose a bag model for your tools, the first thing you should correctly calculate is its volume. It will depend on how many tools you would like to store or carry there. It should be remembered that you cannot fill the bag to capacity. This will harm not only the product, but also the tools themselves. As they move, they will rub against each other, which will undoubtedly lead to faster wear. The next thing you need to pay attention to is the presence of pockets, compartments and their functionality. It’s very good if some of them are fastened, and some remain open, then the most necessary tools will always be at hand. The choice of color also matters. After all, when a bag is used for repair work, it is preferable if the dirt on it is not too noticeable.

You may ask, why not buy online? “Very expensive and long,” I answer. Also, another reason is that you won’t try it by touch, you won’t experience the strength of the material. Therefore, there was no talk of buying a new one, since they are all expensive and many of them do not correspond to the quality and strength of the material as they say on the website. You will ask again, why not try the product and if you don’t like it, send it back? The answer is the same, it's time and money. Yes, of course you can go and buy it at the store. There are slightly fewer of them than the population in the area. That works out to 3-4 people per store. But one thing is, when you need something, you won’t find anything in them during the day, but they are full of all sorts of nonsense.

So why did I need it? Read on.

In addition to the robot, I had a small shop and I worked there with many tools, mainly spanners, a hammer, pliers and a robot machine with a bandage tape. All work was carried out from the assembly manholes. The first day I only used my working two-sling belt, but it turned out to be not very suitable for such work. All the small hooks immediately broke off and I had to carry everything in my pockets, otherwise. The next day the bag came out of the gas mask, and that was also not the case. The bag is good, but again not for keys, until you find what you need, which is time, and time, as everyone knows, is money. That's exactly why I decided to make this accessory myself from what I had, as they say, for myself. Worn as an additional one if robots are carried out at heights. If on the ground, then no problem at all.

How to make a tool belt with your own hands?

  • The next step was to make pockets for a hammer and pliers from the straps of an old backpack that I had been carrying for more than seven years; I got a good one, which is a rarity these days.

  • In the remaining space I attached two pockets for small parts, staples and clips, punctures, etc., which I made from my wife’s old handbag.

Agree, it turned out well, you can even compete with some companies.

Best regards, Oleg Lemishko.

IN Lately At work I constantly have to carry tools with me. To carry them, I used an ordinary thick backpack. Everything would be fine, but the constant chaos and mishmash of tools depressed me every day. It was decided to do comfortable bag for daily wear.

I’ll say right away that this is the second such product. The first one I sewed during lunch at work using a sharpened screw and a broken needle, so it turned out a little clumsy, but very functional. And inspired by the experience, I set about the second.

So, to make the pocket bag I used:

  • a pant leg from old jeans;
  • a broken helmet found at a construction site;
  • threads;
  • awl;

First, cut off the required length of the trouser leg. Then, turning it inside out, sew the bottom.

We remove the suspension elements from the helmet. We sew the brackets with a loop for attaching to a belt.

Having cut off a straight section with fastening points, we evenly punch it with an awl.

Then we sew it to our pocket.

Having figured out that it would be nice to prepare places for carrying over the shoulder, we sew on a couple more mounting brackets.

We fill the stencil. All! Our brain pocket ready to carry the instrument.

In my case, on my belt I wear a brain pocket (a Velcro valve is added to the design) with a layout for screwdrivers, pliers, a voltage indicator and a knife, and over my shoulder I wear a brain bag with keys and pliers. The brain bag is also convenient to use as a holster for a hair dryer, drill and other power tools.

In total, in an hour, without spending a penny, we have a very convenient device for carrying tools and other useful items.
