I needed 100 g of Adelia olivia yarn (40% wool, 60% acrylic, 100 g / 250) and 5 needles No. 1.5 for circular knitting.

Since these are essentially knitted mittens, only without a top, we start knitting them as usual - with an elastic band.

Cast on 49 stitches on 2 needles.

We take out one knitting needle and, knitting the 1st row, distribute the loops onto 4 knitting needles so that they have approximately the same number of loops. I got: 12, 12, 12 and 13.

We knit an elastic band according to pattern 1.

After 7 cm we begin to knit with the main pattern. For me, this is the front surface and in the center of the back of the hand is a braid according to pattern 2. We knit the left mitt. At the end of the 3rd row, after the elastic band, before the last loop on the 4th knitting needle, we knit 1 knit crossed loop from the broach (so that there are no holes), then a knit stitch from the knitting needle and 1 more knit crossed loop from the broach. The 4th needle now has 12+2 stitches. We knit the next 3 rows without increments, and in the 4th row we knit 1 knit stitch from the broach before and after the last 3 loops on the 4th needle. We continue such additions every 3 rows until there are 12 more loops on the 4th needle than there were.

Be sure to try on the mitts while knitting!

Knit the next row without changes, and then begin to decrease through a row of 2 stitches together along the edges of the hole. When the original number of loops (12) remains on the 4th knitting needle, continue knitting the mitts with knitting needles without changing the number of loops.

After 18 cm, knit 3 rows with an elastic band, as in the beginning, and bind off all the loops.

We knit the thumb on 3 needles, the 4th is the working needle. To do this, we transfer the loops from the pins to 2 knitting needles, and with the third we knit 6 loops from the additional ones cast on along the upper edge of the hole.

Since I lost the 5th needle somewhere, I knitted on the remaining 4. I can say that it is convenient.

After 5.5 cm I finished knitting the elastic and moved on to stockinette stitch. You can have your own cuff length.

Border pattern for knitted mitts

We knit arches from 4 air loops and attach them with single crochets to every third loop of the last gray row.

Before you start knitting, you need to determine the knitting density and count the required number of loops for the initial set according to the girth of the forearm (round the number to a multiple of four).

In the example presented, we cast on 48 loops and distribute them onto 4 knitting needles. Next, we knit the beginning of the cuff in a circle with a 2 x 2 elastic band, alternating 2 knit and 2 purl loops. Having knitted 12-15 rows, we move to the front stitch, distributing all the loops in half on the front and back of the mitt (i.e. we knit the loops on the 1st and 2nd needles with a pattern for the front side, for example: a pattern of knit and purl loops or you can choose a simple braid, and on the 3rd and 4th knitting needles we knit the front stitch for the back of the hand).

Closer to the wrist, we begin to make decreases to fit the mitts more closely, knitting 2 stitches together on the 3rd and 4th knitting needles from the back side, i.e. decreasing 2 loops. If necessary, after 2 rows, decrease 2 more loops.

Having knitted the wrist until the palm widened, we began to form a wedge for the thumb. Remembering that we knit the front part on the 1st and 2nd knitting needles, then for the thumb of the right hand we make increases from the 1st loop on the 3rd knitting needle, and for the left hand from the last loop on the 4th knitting needle. To do this, having knitted to the extension loop, from the broach in front of it we knit 1 knit, then the central loop itself - knit and again we make an increase - from the broach we knit the knit, i.e. Having added 2 loops, mark the central loop by pulling a contrasting thread through it with a crochet hook. We make the next wedge additions after 3 rows in the 4th; marking with a contrasting thread will not allow you to lose your count. Thus, along the edges of the marked loop we make increases 7 times, thereby adding 14 loops, or make increases until you reach the base of the thumb.

Then we remove the added loops onto a pin (respectively, the first 14 loops from the 3rd knitting needle for the right hand and the last 14 loops from the 4th knitting needle for the left hand), cast on 3 air loops and continue to knit in the round.

Having knitted the selected pattern to the base of the fingers on the front side, and with the back stockinette stitch, proceed to knitting a 2x2 elastic band, knitting 10 - 12 rows, close the loops according to the pattern or crochet. When knitting 1x1 elastic, it is better to close the loops with a needle and a kettel stitch, which forms a more elastic edge.

To knit the thumb, transfer the remaining 14 loops to the knitting needles, cast on 6 more loops from the palm side, knit 10-12 rows in a circle with a 2x2 elastic band and bind off the loops.

Having finished knitting, fasten and cut all the threads, steam the product, wash and dry if necessary.

Cast on 38 stitches on circular needles, knit a row with an elastic band (knit and purl 1x1). We close the knitting in a circle by connecting the thread from the ball with the end of the thread remaining from the set of loops, tying them with a knot. From this moment we begin to knit in a circle clockwise. The thread will serve as a guide to start knitting the next row.

As mentioned above, we begin knitting the mitts from the cuff, which we knit with an elastic band for 10 rows.

Then we knit 12 rows in stockinette stitch, and for decoration we knit 3 more rows in purl stitch.

After this, we make an increase - add 6 loops, evenly distributing the loops at equal intervals, and continue knitting another 14 rows in stockinette stitch until the beginning of the thumb.

For the right mitt, the hole is knitted on the first knitting needle at the beginning, and for the left mitt - at the end of the first knitting needle, symmetrically.

The width of the thumb hole will be 10 loops. It’s easy to use: putting it on a knitting needle, set the row number, for example, 01, knit all the loops on 4 knitting needles, transfer the row number to 02, and thus knit further. We make any set of loops in the usual way. The length of the tail of the thread, which should be left for this, is equal to four girths of the palm. When using yarn of the specified thickness, cast on 40 loops - 10 on each knitting needle, and close it in a ring. We put a row counter on the first knitting needle and set the first row.

"Pipes" mitts: job description

These are quite long mitts. The knitting pattern is as follows: we knit 20 rows with stockinette stitch, then we make rollers on two opposite needles - we count down 10 rows, cast on 5 loops on an additional knitting needle from the wrong side and pull it up to the 21st row. Combining both knitting needles in your hand, we knit 2 loops each (from the main and additional knitting needles), pulling the thread through both. Thus, we perform a roller on one knitting needle. We knit the next 10 loops with the second without changes, and on the third we again make the same roll from five loops raised from the 10th row, knitted together with the loops on the main one. We knitted the 21st row. This pattern is also very good because it is repeated after 15 rows, i.e. you can knit calmly without fear of getting lost, which often happens to novice craftswomen when choosing complex, constantly repeating weaves. So, let's knit the mitts further. The knitting pattern is repeated: set the counter again to the first row, and knit the next 15 rows. On the 16th row we make rollers. This time they need to be made not on the 1st and 3rd knitting needles, but on the 2nd and 4th, i.e. they should be located in a checkerboard pattern. Having finished the 16th row with rollers, we again move the counter to the 1st row and knit in this way to the desired length to the thumb hole.

These mitts knitted with knitting needles are easy to make, since there is no need to knit the fabric for the thumb.

Only a cut is made, for which we will unfold the fabric, i.e. knit on both sides. To beautifully design the cut, we will make double edge loops:

Without knitting, leave the last loop on the right knitting needle and, lifting a loop from the bottom row, knit it. In other words, they added one loop to the unknitted edge loop. There are 11 loops on this knitting needle.

Turn the work inside out.

We put on the counter placed on the first row.

We knit all the loops from the inside out, without knitting the last one on the 4th needle.

Next to the last loop from the bottom row, pull out another one and purl it.

Next, turn the fabric over to the right side and knit it like this: remove the first loop without knitting, knit the rest. We also knit from the inside out. Double edge seals the edges of the cut without causing much stretching. The fabric is knitted on both sides to the desired height - approximately 12 rows. At the same time, we must not forget about the main pattern - the rollers. They must be knitted according to a given algorithm - through 15 rows in a checkerboard pattern.

End of work

As soon as the fabric with the cut for the thumb is knitted, we switch to circular knitting on 4 needles, closing the work into a ring. But first, let’s knit the last two loops of the front row together with one, and the next two (already on the 1st knitting needle) also together with one loop - after all, at the beginning of knitting we added two edge loops to design the cut.

After this, we carry out the work in the same way as before, making rollers and trying the product on our hands. Having knitted to the desired height, close the fabric in the usual way, making 2 loops and pulling one into the other. We carefully hide the remaining tip of the thread on the wrong side. Now, half the work is done. The second mitt is knitted in the same way.

Long mitts knitted: knitting pattern

Mitts knitted in the described way can be of any length, but not everyone likes the additional volume created by the “clouque” effect. Many people prefer classic braids on long, even mittens. You can knit such products by choosing the appropriate braid pattern. It is necessary to take into account that the number of loops is limited: we will proceed from the calculation presented above - 40 loops with yarn of medium thickness (250 m / 100 g). We knit patterned long mittens with knitting needles, detailed description knitting of which is as follows: first we select a pattern (it doesn’t have to be complex, even the simplest braids on a flat fabric look great).

Calculation and execution of the drawing

For our example, we will knit a central braid on the upper side of the mitts. The braid will be placed on the reverse surface, and the inside of the product will be knitted with the front fabric. We cast on 4 knitting needles and close the knitting into a ring. Next, we disassemble the loops in this way: on the 1st and 2nd knitting needles - knit stitch, all loops are knitted with knit stitches. We will knit a pattern on the 3rd and 4th knitting needles, and before starting the braid, we will make a fragment of 1 x 1 elastic band. It is better to combine the loops, collecting all 20 on one knitting needle. And we will knit the first 20 rows like this: 4 purl, then 12 loops with an elastic band 1 x 1, 4 purl.

From the 21st row we knit mittens with knitting needles. Braid knitting pattern: we will make a braid from 12 central elastic loops, making weaves - we remove 6 loops onto an additional knitting needle and transfer it to work, we knit 6 loops from the main needle, then from the additional one. For greater relief, the braid can be knitted not with knit stitches, but continued with an elastic band, alternating knit and purl stitches. We use the row counter so as not to make a mistake in the height of the braid weaves, for example, we weave it every 8-10 rows, and again set the counter to the first row. This algorithm is maintained throughout the knitting of the product.

Knitting "half finger"

This version of the mitt is more complex. Instead of a cut for the thumb, we will knit a “half finger”. Having tied the fabric to the base of the thumb, on the border between the back and inner sides of the product we select a central loop, on both sides of which we begin to make increases in each row. Having cast a sufficient number of loops to encircle a finger, use additional knitting needles to knit a “half-finger” 2.5 - 3 cm high and close it in the usual way, and the main fabric is continued. The “half finger” can be knitted in the round on three knitting needles or with an unfolded fabric, which is then carefully sewn together. On two mitts, the “half fingers” are made in a mirror image.
