How to make a sunflower craft (applique) with your own hands from sunflower seeds. Three options: from paper, natural material (leaves), plasticine. Master Class.

DIY sunflower craft

The sunflower is a bright sunny flower, so crafts with it turn out the same. This plant has long inspired the creativity of artists and sculptors. An applique with sunflowers can serve as a regular craft or decorate greeting card or a room, if you frame the work. Crafts you can make with sunflowers different ways and from a wide variety of materials.

In this article I will talk about how to make sunflower applications with your own hands from paper, a natural material ( autumn leaves) and a craft with a sunflower made of plasticine.

All of these works have real sunflower seeds glued to the central part of the flower. If the work is planned to be placed in a frame under glass, they will interfere. In this case, you can not glue them, but instead draw lines in the form of a grid.

Sunflower - paper applique. Option 1

Sunflower - paper applique. Option 2

This option differs from the previous one only in that instead of a circle of yellow colored paper you need to cut a strip, bend it like an accordion, and then cut out several petals at once. Glue the petals on the back of the black circle along the very edge.

Sunflower - applique made from natural material (seeds and autumn leaves)

In a similar way, you can make an applique with a sunflower from natural material - from seeds and dried autumn leaves of yellow or orange color from bushes or trees. For the work shown in the photo in this article, the leaves of the fragrant honeysuckle honeysuckle were used (despite the middle of September, it is still hot here and other yellow leaves no, even these were found with difficulty - they were hiding in the middle of a bush).

If all the leaves are approximately the same size, they need to be glued to the base in a circle, leaving a little free space in the center. It will be more beautiful if you glue them in two layers, with the second layer glued in a checkerboard pattern.

If the leaves different lengths, you need to fold them together, aligning them along the upper corners, and cut off the lower part.

Glue the resulting petals in a circle, overlapping or in two layers, leaving free space in the middle.

Glue a circle of black paper in the middle.

Draw a grid on the circle or glue sunflower seeds.

If desired, you can glue the stem and leaves from the stem of a blade of grass and dried green leaves.

Sunflower - craft made from seeds and plasticine

My daughter made this craft at school during technology class. To the lesson you had to bring plasticine, seeds and a modeling board. The children made a sunflower according to the model and glued it directly to the board on which they sculpted the parts. I would recommend using colored cardboard as a base or background for this craft - the board will come in handy in the next lessons, and then this craft will have to be broken.

Stages of work completion

Like these ones various works The children turned out according to the same pattern.

This photo shows plasticine sunflowers of Nika, Sasha and Ani.

And this is the work of Arina, Vitya and Dasha.

From corrugated paper, beginners and experienced craftsmen make a variety of beautiful crafts: cards, applications, bouquet arrangements. With their help, you can please a loved one or give your home a unique look. A paper sunflower made with your own hands will give you a little warmth.

Symbolic meaning

Sunflower - very bright flower with petals resembling rays of the sun. When you admire such beauty, your soul becomes warm and joyful.

The sunflower can rightfully be called a sunny flower. Its scientific name helianthus is translated from Greek as “sunny flower.” In Russia it is called a sunflower because its cap follows the light source throughout the day. That is, he always strives to be under the sun. When a sunflower grows to its maximum, it remains facing east. It is because of this feature that the meaning of devotion is attributed to this sunny flower.

If you want to give your loved one a gift with a sunflower, then be sure to play with it. Say that this is a symbol of fidelity, happiness and joy. So, let's look at how to make a sunflower out of paper with your own hands in different ways.

Corrugated paper sunflower

Let's make the core first. To do this, cut strips of black corrugated paper about 7 centimeters wide. The volume of the beam will depend on the length. We put the strips on top of each other, making small cuts on one side. Now we roll them into a roll and secure them with wire on the side where there is no “fringe”. Straighten the core with your hands.

Let's start with the petals. Cut rectangles (4 by 6 centimeters) from yellow corrugated paper. We round one edge with scissors. Now we roll the slices a little.

Let's start assembling. Glue the petals to the core at a short distance. We fasten the second row at intervals. We use the same principle to make the third row. So we made a sunflower from corrugated paper with our own hands.

How to make a sunflower stem

If you want to make a bouquet and put it in a vase, then you need to make stems for the flowers.

We make sepals from green corrugated paper in the same way as petals. We use the same principle to make leaves. But only in different sizes. We glue the sepals in several layers to the last row of flower petals.

We cut the wire into pieces of about 7 centimeters. Wrap with narrow strips of green corrugated paper or tape. Glue the leaves to these segments.

Take a thick wire or skewer and wrap it with green tape or corrugated paper. This will be the stem. We plant a flower on it and secure it with wire. We cover all this with green corrugated paper.

We attach the leaves to the stem and wrap them again with paper or tape. We do this with all the branches. Now you can put a sunflower made of paper with your own hands in a vase.

Meadow of sunflowers on the wall

We make flower petals in the same way as described above. Cut out 2 identical circles from black cardboard. Glue the petals onto one in 3 rows. We attach the second circle from above. Now, using glue or plasticine, we attach real seeds or coffee beans to the core.

We make the stem according to the method described above. We just don’t plant the flower, but apply it. Glue a loop of wood to the back of the flower. satin ribbon. To be safe, cover the top with a piece of fabric or cardboard.

Now the flower can be hung on the wall. We straighten our paper sunflower with our hands. The photo shows how interesting such a flower looks in the interior.

The core can be made not only from corrugated paper. A pom-pom made of thread, fabric or a regular circle of black cardboard is suitable for this.

The core of a sunflower made of beads, satin ribbon using the kanzashi technique or original ones will look unusual natural materials: real seeds, buckwheat, colored peas, coffee beans.

Applique for a postcard: using trimming

Cut out 16 rectangles (5 by 7 centimeters) from yellow corrugated paper. These will be the petals of the flower. You can add other shades. And a sunflower made from colored paper with your own hands can safely be called rainbow! We round the edges so that they resemble triangles. Use scissors to bend the petals a little.

Cut out two circles with a diameter of 5 centimeters from black corrugated paper. On one we lay out the petals in several rows. Glue the second circle on top.

Now we will make the seeds using the cutting technique. We make about 30 squares (1 by 1 centimeter) from black corrugated paper. We wrap each piece onto a toothpick and then remove it from it. We coat the core with glue and fill it with “seeds”. Now this sunflower made with love from corrugated paper (with your own hands) can be placed on a card and given to a loved one.

Sunflowers-candies

For such flowers, sweets like truffles in a wrapper are best suited.

From black corrugated paper we cut out a square with sides of 12 centimeters. We wrap the candy in it and tie it with thread. We cut out the same square from a golden floral mesh, wrap the candy and secure it again. You can wrap both materials at the same time.

Let's move on to the petals. Without them, the craft will not work. We start making a sunflower with our own hands from yellow corrugated paper by cutting out a strip, the width of which is equal to two or three turns around the candy, and the length can be about 7 centimeters. Of course, everything depends on the size of the candy itself, and the parameters can change up or down.

We fold the strip several times, find one third of the width and draw a barely noticeable line with a pencil. Cut out the petals up to this mark. We straighten the strip. There should be a “fence”.

Now we wrap the candy with a strip. We try to ensure that the next layer of petals lies in a checkerboard pattern in relation to the first row. During the screwing process, do not forget to apply glue. Now we take a thick thread, pull the base tightly and tie it.

So the sweet sunflower made from paper, made with your own hands, is ready. All that remains is to twist the petals with scissors.

Composition with sweet sunflowers

Let's take a small flower pot or basket as a basis. We cut out the foam to the size of the bottom and place it inside.

We make sunflowers according to the method described above, attaching toothpicks to them with thread. We insert the candies into the foam.

Now you need to fill the voids with leaves. Take green organza or corrugated paper. Cut into squares with sides of about 11 centimeters. For one leaf you need two. Place them on top of each other so that their corners do not touch. You should get an octagonal star. Insert a toothpick into the middle, gather it up and secure it with thread or tape. We do this with all the leaves. Cover them with foam. Decorate the composition to taste.

Make a sunflower out of paper with your own hands, and a piece of warm summer will always be in your home.

Do-it-yourself crafts from grains, cereals and various seeds are a great way to keep children busy, because working with such natural material is a great way to train fine motor skills hands, which helps improve the overall and speech development. Also, such activities help to cultivate patience, diligence and perseverance in children.

Features of creativity using natural materials

Not only schoolchildren can make crafts from cereals with their own hands, because such joint creativity is suitable even for small children. True, you will need to be with the kids constantly so that they do not harm themselves in any way.

So, the following materials may be useful to you:

  • all kinds of cereals and grains - buckwheat, rice, millet, semolina;
  • legumes - peas, lentils and multi-colored beans;
  • any seeds and seeds - watermelon, pumpkin, melon and sunflower, etc.

You can even take it. Also in the process you will need: thick paper or cardboard, glue, scissors, fabric, plasticine, templates of various patterns, decorations (at your request).

The most best crafts from cereals, seeds and sunflower seeds with your own hands - these are applications and paintings. You can come up with stories with your child yourself, or use some ready-made templates and transfer them to paper. The complexity of the work should depend on the age of the children; keep in mind that the child should be interested in making the craft on his own, even with your help, but not be completely aloof.

We create applications and paintings with our own hands

The topic of work can be anything. But crafts made from grains and other natural materials on the theme of spring turn out to be very beautiful and original. Spring landscapes (crafts made from watermelon seeds and cereals), lush flowers (flowers made from pumpkin seeds are especially good - asters, sunflowers, snowdrops) are great ideas for children's creativity.

The more different cereals, seeds and seeds you use, the better, because they all not only vary in size and shape, but also in color and texture. That is, you will have a huge space for imagination and creativity. And if your grain craft requires some special colors, then you can always paint your materials using watercolor paints or gouache.

Try starting with a simple appliqué. For example, as a craft, you can make a basket with flowers from pumpkin seeds.

  1. Draw the outlines of the basket on a piece of thick paper or cardboard and spread them with glue.
  2. Next, place pumpkin seeds along these contours to make a three-dimensional basket.
  3. Inside, draw flowers in exactly the same way - these can be sunflowers, asters, poppies, daisies, snowdrops or any others. Use seeds of various sizes to create them - pumpkin, watermelon, sunflower seeds.
  4. The centers of the flowers can be made from beads or filled with fine grains.
  5. Paint your bouquet and paint the basket in Brown color. You can decorate the applique with sparkles or stickers, or add some plasticine details.

It’s easy to make a vase of flowers on a spring theme, just like a basket. To keep children's crafts made from seeds for a long time and not fall off, you can spray them with hairspray or coat them with clear nail polish.

A favorite activity for children will be creating applications and paintings depicting various animals, birds or fish. Together with your child, come up with a plot and bring the fairy tale to life using crafts made from pumpkin or watermelon seeds, as well as other various materials.

Fish, hedgehogs, bees, snails, ducks, cats and other animals are incredibly cute. See how easy it is to make a picture of a hedgehog as a craft from seeds.

  1. Print out a drawing of a hedgehog or draw one yourself.
  2. Apply a good layer of glue to his back and start gradually attaching seeds to him (these could be watermelon seeds or sunflower seeds).
  3. You need to glue the seeds so that they all point with their sharp tips in one direction.
  4. You can simply paint the rest of the hedgehog’s body, and attach mushrooms or fruits made from plasticine to its spines.

But what an interesting picture you can create with a peacock using watermelon seeds, as well as semolina and corn grits.

  1. Draw a peacock on thick paper or print out a ready-made template (even regular coloring books will do).
  2. Apply glue to the round ends of the feathers and cover them with corn grits. Do the same with the bird's legs.
  3. When it dries a little, shake off the remaining residue from the sheet.
  4. Decorate the feathers with watermelon seeds, gluing each one tightly.
  5. After some time, cover the entire remaining peacock image with glue, except for the head, and fill it with semolina, while clearing the contours with a toothpick.
  6. You can paint the head and decorate the picture as you wish. As you can see, crafts from watermelon seeds are very simple to make.

Other ideas for crafts made from natural materials

A painting can be not only an image of something, but also simply a panel made of cereals, seeds and other natural materials.

It is better to make such a panel on fabric (as a rule, burlap or other natural fabric is used), but you can also use paper. Divide your space into different sectors - these could be geometric figures or abstraction, and then fill them with various grains and seeds (choose material of different colors, textures and shapes, combine them and try to combine them correctly).

To separate the sectors, use jute twine - then your natural panel will turn out more organic. Usually such paintings are not painted, but they can be fixed with varnish.

With older children, you can try to create three-dimensional figures or toys, like crafts from seeds and cereals. Then the material will need to be attached to the frame of your product, for example, you can make a house for some fairy tale hero, form for a candlestick or decorate a photo frame.

DIY crafts from seeds are a beautiful idea joint creativity with children, which will be beneficial and good mood for your whole family.

Yulia Pyatenko

Dear Colleagues! I present to you a very simple and nice option By making sunflowers to decorate the hall for autumn and summer holidays, which can also be used as dance attributes.

Mater ial: - yellow garbage bags for 50 liters - 1 roll;

Round filters for flower pots black (can be replaced with thick black material, felt);

Sewing machine;

Black and yellow threads;

Scissors, ruler, pen, chalk.

Unrolling a roll of bags (as shown in the photo) and draw stripes 4.5 cm wide for sunflowers with centers with a diameter of 10 to 15 cm 26-28 pcs. two rows (13 - 14 pieces for each row) and 5.5 cm for sunflowers with centers with a diameter of 20 to 25 cm 32-34 pcs. two rows (16 - 17 pieces for each row).

Bottom of stripes (with blue stripe) cut to about 5 cm (we won't need this part). This is what we should get.

We unfold the blanks and fold them in half.

We tie the middle of the strip with a knot.

We fold "bow" doubled, hiding the knot under the petal as in the photo.

The front side of the petals will look like this So:

We sew the finished petals of the first row to the middle - a filter (felt), slightly shirring the middle of the petal for volume (we use black threads).

Then we sew on the second row of petals, placing them between the petals of the first row.

Draw the middle of the flower with chalk.

Sew "zig-zag" yellow threads.

From the reverse side the flower looks aesthetically pleasing.

Advice: if there is a middle on the reverse side sunflower nevertheless, it is thick and difficult to sew on (this happens with flowers with a small center; you can cut out the ends of the petals in the middle, and cover the ugly cut out parts with the outer petals.

We straighten the petals and admire our sunflowers!

Folded flowers are convenient for storage: compact, take up minimal space, and if necessary they can even be washed. To create these five sunflowers It only took me two evenings!
